"Well, that didn’t take long.
And, it certainly didn’t take an Einstein to figure out that in our rush to balance budgets by granting early parole or release to thousands of convicts wasn’t such a great idea. And it sure isn’t saving the money proponents predicted. Several states now realize some things just can’t be measured by money. Like public safety – and the threat to the public’s safety."

"Two colleagues and I were using the time to strategize for the meeting when suddenly we felt a bump and heard a cracking sound. There were murmurs of, “We must have hit a patch of ice,” and “I think it was a big tree branch on the track.” Then the train stopped dead.

There we sat for two hours in Norwood, Pennsylvania watching the snow fall outside our windows. The conductor announced we might have to transfer trains but didn’t explain why. Then, we saw police outside on the tracks. Slowly word spread throughout the train, which I verified with a quick internet search. We’d struck and killed two girls on the track!"

"I know that sounds odd and old fashioned. But the truth is that more than 20 states, including Florida where Wood’s keeps his primary residence, still have laws on the books against cheating on your spouse...how long do you think it will take some sharp divorce attorney to get wise? Some lawyer with an extra vindictive spurned spouse will almost certainly land upon the strategy to force their state to adhere to its anti-adultery law."

"Young’s book, “The Politician” reveals the ugly truth about how presidential politics works, especially how campaign fundraising – both on and off the books – drenches a candidate in so much money it’s almost simple for them to spend it on things they shouldn’t.

In Edward’s case it appears he spent plenty on his mistress and their baby.

Young says he wrote the book to clear his reputation and to make up for two years of unemployment. During that time, he says, John and Elizabeth Edwards sabotaged his job opportunities, blamed him for their strained marriage and John’s failed 2008 presidential bid."

"... I came face to face with Carlos Irwin Estevez as he appeared to face multiple domestic abuse charges. I said hello. He remained silent.

This is a man whose past is littered with complaints from the women in his life. One of his ex-wives alleges he became absorbed in pornography, abused alcohol and street drugs and threatened her safety. Several of his past female companions worked in the porn industry and he once shot a girlfriend in the arm. He’s been in and out of rehab for cocaine abuse and court ordered probation violations but still he keeps popping up on law enforcement’s radar. So far he’s avoided prison time.

On this day Estevez was dressed in somber black, including his skinny tie and horned rimmed glasses. He was memorable for what he wasn’t wearing. He’d left his trademark smirk and cocky bad boy attitude back home in Los Angeles where he makes a multi-million dollar living as an actor.

You probably know him as Charlie Sheen...."
