Marli, like you I experienced a deep sadness when Michael Jackson died and in processing it I have been doing LOTS of research which has proven fascinating, educational and is why I've ended up here responding to you. When my other half died suddenly about 3 years ago my annoyingly wise mother shared some folklore that says good people leave this world quickly and painlessly as a reward for having lived a 'good or honourable' life. Another thing she says is that people wait until you're gone before they speak well of you.

Dear Mrs. Dimond,

Just recently I bought your book "Be careful who you love". I had already seen you in the documentary "Michael Jackson, what really happened" about the Jordy Chandler case, that was broadcasted here in Holland approx. 2 weeks after MJ's death, therefore I reckoned the book would be an honest and as objective as possible journalistic account. You just stroke me as being a serious journalist. And in my opinion I got that right. I think it was very courageous of you to bring this story out and stick with it despite all harassment by hard core Jackson fans, who I truly believe are potentially dangerous in their fanaticism.
I myself was never a Jackson fan, nor was I ever particularly interested in him. Though I must admit that in my childhood I had cried my eyes out for years every time I heard his song "Ben", and had felt sort of a personal connection with him back then. Therefore the whole Jordy Chandler thing in the early nineties and the child molestation trial in 2005 sort of passed me by almost unnoticed. So, much to my surprise I found myself seriously mourning over MJ's death as if he had been a close family member of mine. Crazy huh? I guess that was due to those old feelings that obviously had revived, the fact that he was only a few years older than me, and the fact that his career sort of had run through my life like a red thread, as we say in Holland, though only in the background. So only after he died I got involved in digging up as much as I could about him. It even became an obsession (luckily that obsessive behavior is over now). Hence I found your book.
And it was really mind-blowing for me: MJ seemed to have taken it all múch further, with múch younger boys, and he started out with those kids múch further back in time than I had ever imagined. Really confronting, shocking and also confusing. It is almost like he had had a multiple personality disorder. But well, all his life he had been a mystery whom I think nobody has ever really gotten to know, not even his own mother, and I guess he forever will be. His whole life seems to have been some artificial construct, just like his face and his overall looks (to me he looked and behaved more and more unnatural over the years). And no one will ever be 100% certain whether or not he had been a practicing pedophile. Though I think he has been, at least with Jordy Chandler.
Oh well, in a way I think it is a good thing he died, so all of it is really over now. Not only all publicity extravaganza, but also the possibility he could still be "playing" with prepubescent boys. And his death must have been a very comfortable one: just sliding over to the other side while asleep. Who wouldn't want that?
Jee, I don't really know why I got this personal, but I will send my elaborate thought-spins to you anyway.
Anyway, I would like to complement you for writing this book. It has really put MJ back in perspective for me. Thankx for that!

Greetings and all the best from Marli Guffens from Holland

I think the Attorney General should be given life in prison for sending those terrorists to be tried in New York. And I don't believe he did it withot President Obama's approval.
